Hiring Process
� Written test and physical abilities test
� Oral interview board
� Final hiring decision
� Once employed as deputy, you will attend the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, S.C. for 12 weeks. Certified officers from other states may qualify for a six-week focus on the legal portion of the academy or a challenge test. The Spartanburg County Sheriff�s Office�s Field Training Program is 604 hours (may be abbreviated for prior experience) and the probationary period is one year.
Starting Salary
� New Hire with no experience - ($42,384 annually based on a 43-hour week)
� Associates Degree, Bachelor's / Masters Degree, at least 2 years active duty military service- will promote faster within the SCSO ranks.
� Lateral Police Officer-grade and pay step placement based upon experience and formal training.
